"Call Me Maybe" is another example of a viral music video. However, it's interesting that the song itself went viral only after teen heartthrob Justin Bieber and friends made their own music video. The song by Carly Rae Jepsen came out long before Spring 2012, but gained little popularity until this video came out of Justin Bieber and some Disney channel stars dancing to the song. This perhaps suggests an American fascination with celebrities "acting like real people" and doing the same things ordinary people do in their ordinary lives (like reading the Hunger Games, which makes an appearance in this video).
